C. : Flower Greenhouses
INTERVENTION PROGRAM:
Fl owers Instead of Drugs
Curator:
Cock H. M. de Gier (Holland)
Introduction
The
geographic, climatic conditions in Bulgaria,
and mostly the great number of sunny days, are good precondition for
greenhouse production of flowers. During the period 1965 –
1978 810 ha of steel-glass greenhouses have been built in Bulgaria.
Greater part of them has been made with the participation of Dutch specialists and delivery of constructions and equipment from Holland. Until 1990
a great quantity of vegetables and over 200 million pieces of cut flowers
have been yielded there. Seventy percent of these products
have been welcome in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Eastern
European countries.
It is of
material effect to be noted that in the above
mentioned period the greenhouses have been used mainly in the
autumn-winter and the early spring seasons when there are not vegetables
enough on the market, and that they usually brought a good income in the
whole branch of horticulture.
As the
available greenhouses are used over the last twenty years
and more, they need to be modernized. So long the maximum
effect should be achieved in renovation of the irrigation
and heating systems by computer controlled drop-irrigation
feeding system.
Social re-adaptation –accommodation
and team work in modern Dutch greenhouse companies (10 on the
territory of Bulgaria) near to the ICHA. |

Program Flowers Instead of Drugs stipulates
construction of fifteen and special
–
purpose – built

in particular-to be cultivated following the very best of modern
Dutch agricultural technologies.

1. Separation
from the street environment, where drugs are offering.
2. Work engagements
with salary receiving.
3. Communication with young,
health, enthusiastic people.
Each flower grown within the greenhouses will bear the label with the
name of the Program, and will be distributed at flower auctions in
Holland.
Young agronomists and persons, who are new free of drug addiction will
be employed in the greenhouses in order to carry out the methods
of the Program and, therefore, to achieve its goal. |
